Spindle

What is the difference between CNC turning centers and CNC lathes?
A CNC lathe is a basic type of computer numerical control (CNC) machine. It clamps the workpiece in place using a fixture and rotates it around a rotational axis. The spindle controls the tool, which performs radial and axial cutting on the workpiece. Multiple clamping operations are required to machine multiple surfaces. The lathe’s functionality is relatively limited as it is primarily used for machining shaft-type, ring-shaped, and cylindrical parts. Therefore, it is relatively inexpensive.
The CNC turning centre can perform a few more operations than the basic CNC lathe. The general-purpose model includes full turning functionality and can also mill, drill and tap.
